Wilfredo Hernandez, Founder & Artistic Director of the Mythic Theatre Collective, will be joining four other innovative “director auteurs” (including Dena Adriance, Misha Hadar, Maria Litvan & Ashley “Scout” Seide) under the direction of Professor Nan Smithner (of NYU’s Program in Educational Theatre) this fall in a special, group-designed “Devised Theatre Tutorial” to produce a showcase of socially relevant and thought provoking new works this December in New York City.
Hernandez will continue the development of his deconstructionist piece entitled “Blind Providence”, which explores the political and religious language employed in the ongoing debate for LGBTQ equality in the United States. The work had its initial staging on May 14, 2012 at NYU’s Black Box Theater and featured Michael Brennan (Justice), Kaleigh DeLucca (Girl), Ryan Holder (Man), Emily Louise Kugel (Love), Ron Mancini (Politics/Present) & Jamie Murawski (Religion/Past).
Developments and information regarding “Blind Providence” and NYU’s Devised Theatre Showcase will be posted as it becomes available in the coming months.

“Creative Mythology is an effect and expression of experience. Its producers do not claim divine authority for their human, all too human, works. They are not saints or priests but men and women of this world; and their first requirement is that both their works and their lives should unfold from convictions derived from their own experience.” - Joseph Campbell

The Mythic Theatre Collective strives to produce such inspired works. More on the horizon…
